Regulated by RICS
RICS member firms that come under the RICS regulatory regime are easy to identify, as they use the words ‘Regulated by RICS’ on their letterhead and other communication materials. Only UK practices which provide independent surveying services to the public can be regulated by the RICS. A firm that is regulated by RICS has:
-
A commitment to professional and technical standards and staff training; which is reinforced and constantly refreshed through Continued Professional Development (CPD), a fundamental requirement of the RICS
-
RICS members that are qualified and experienced professionals offering independent and impartial advice;
-
Professional indemnity insurance cover;
-
Strict Rules of Conduct that regulates how it delivers it services;
-
A complaints handling procedure to answer client complaints
(PS0040PM Complaints Handling Procedure);
-
Access to independent resolution of complaints where the firm cannot resolve the matter;
-
Rules to ensure that any money held on behalf of clients is held safely and securely – this includes, rent, deposits, service charges and insurance premium money.
-
